China

Well... I'm in China!

Been travelling around a lot over 2010 and the 2 countries I had been most looking forward to were Colombia and China. Probably as they're the furthest away from the UK, which means the most different! Been loving all of the travelling, but now have a bag full of random crappy change that I'll probably never use!

Arrived in Beijing airport yesterday morning, after a good BA flight (no sleep) from Heathrow (after our 2 connecting flights from Palma and Madrid). Watched a couple of films (Social Network and Takers) and a few sports tv programmes. Because of the lack of sleep I was wrecked and had to keep myself awake until that evening. Never slept so well as I did last night and woke up this morning full of beans! Lasted a good 30 minutes until after breakfast when I was falling asleep at the table again... A good spin on the track sorted me out though.

After a quick lunch we headed down to the Silk Market, on Silk Alley near Silk street to do some Chinese shopping. Replica, fake crap filled most of the market, but managed to filter out a nice automatic watch, a pair of Oakley Jawbones (with 3 lenses), 3 Fred Perry polo shirts and a woolen Fred Perry jumper - all working out at a massive £50! The stuff I bought, if bought fromt the original dealers would cost around £10,500... The £10k watch makes up most of that sum...

The track itself is really nice with a heated floor and a cool looking woven roof.

Official training starts tomorrow, where we'll get on the boards for the fist time. Luckily my track bike made it to the hotel today, after only being in Madrid when we arrived yesterday. BA kindly gave me a £35 inconvenience fee.

I think there's quite a bit of pressure on my to do well here in China. After only achieving 13th in the last World Cup. I need to get inside the top 10 in order to secure myself a World Championship ride.

Anyway I need to try and break the cycle of jetlag and get some much needed sleep.

Zaijian!
