Had a hard day on the bike yesterday!
Started off with missing breakfast... never a good start to the day with lots of time in the saddle planned!
Headed out for a zone 2/3 ride at around midday. I judge my effort using my SRM power meter, sitting around 250 watts on the flat and 300+ watts on the climbs. I headed out of Palma with no real route in mind. Just followed signs for small towns. I ended up in Magaluf, where I spent a good 30 minutes riding round the streets stuck in the one-way system trying to find my way out!! Usually referred to as a party time, but at this time of year it is dead! Nobody was around. Although it did have one of the nicest beaches I've ever seen!
Eventually found my way out and rode along the coast to Palmanova into Calanova and finally back into Palma again. Another problem I came across on my ride was that my left crank came really loose and nearly fell off! Being my usual unprepared self, I didn't have the 8mm allankey adaptor on my multi tool. So using my thumb I tightened it as much as possible but it was still moving in funny directions!
After getting back I had enough time for a quick recovery shake, a small bowl of cereal and shower before I was out the door again heading down to the track. I was aware that I was going to be doing a motor paced points race session... which I have to say is the session I look forward to the least. Just consists of a lot of pain! Trying to lap a motorbike on a low gear when you're already smashed isn't an easy job and I'm sure I was pulling some faces towards the end of that session!!
I wasn't the only one training hard though. The girls (Caroline, Siobhan and Jen) seemed to have a never ending number of 2km standing team pursuit efforts! Every time I looked up they were doing another one!
The paracycling team are here as well, but I haven't seen them on the track or the road as they've been training early morning at the track where as we've been having all afternoon sessions.
Mr.Irvine returns today to complete the line up for the upcoming Beijing World Cup. It seems the whole team is going well and although I'm pretty nervous about my points race, I can't wait to get started!
Adios
Some pictures to come later, when the internet isn't so shit!
