I don't like the cold

It's hard to motivate yourself to ride a cold windy winter series circuit race after just last week racing in China against some of the best riders from all over the world... but that's exactly what I did.
It was a last minute decision to race, as I've been suffering with a cold all week but I decided I was well enough and I was hoping that the short race would help open my lungs up again before heading back to Majorca on Wednesday.
With some brief instructions from Andy - "hurt yourself" - I headed off to London.
It felt about -5C, so I was wrapped up warm! Had a ScienceInSport delivery on the day before with a bundle of brand new team kit, made by Assos! Never had any Assos kit before as it costs a bomb! But I can definately see why people buy it... so comfortable!
Race went ok. Was able to pull out decent gaps from attacks, but wasn't able to sustain anything for more than 5 minutes. Eventually a break went and I was left in the bunch fighting for 9th place. I had decided with 2 laps to go, not to contest the sprint for 9th, but at the last minute decided to start sprinting, mainly just to hurt my legs that little bit more!
Overall, didn't get a result but got a good workout. Enjoyed being away on my own, checking up on my SRM (thanks Luke!) figures. The followed a similiar pattern with each attack; 1st lap holding 500 watts, 2nd lap holding 400 watts, 3rd lap holding 300 watts, 4th lap caught and breathing out my arse!

In other news, I have a sparkly Scott Addict arriving at the door Monday morning. I need to return my Pearson Pro after it being used in a magazine article in a couple of weeks.

Off to jump on the turbo,
Adios
