I am wrecked!
I am currently in bed half concious.
I've had a tough week with today being the 5th training day in a row.
The last 3 days have consisted of double sessions. With 2.5 hours in the morning - it's worth noting this is a 2.5 ride trying to sit next to Martyn... so is the equivalent of an 8 hour ride at Felix speed!
The afternoons have been taken up by a quick lunch over the road at our favourite cafe, where we are now regulars. We don't even need to give our order in anymore, the guy's on the ball and has our baguette and cafe con leche with us before we have time to sit down! After we're both fed it's usually a bit of a rush to get ready before our 30-40 minute ride to the track.
The track sessions have been different each day, but are all equally as painful. We've had fast pursuit work, sprint work and today's 'special' 5km pursuits.
Our plan has been changed slightly with a rest day tomorrow now and then our original spin now on Sunday. Pretty happy about this as my body is in tatters! Deep muscle sorness that feels like it's down to the bone! The core stuff we've been doing after track has also taken it's toll.
Whilst Caroline and Martyn are training for the World Championships in 2 weeks, I am preparing for the start of my road season. This will be my last big block of training before I start taking a bit of time off, so I have got to make it count!
Took a massive step in my life yesterday. I think I am now officially a man after purchasing a pair of Vittora Pave tubulars, to go onto my very 'Belgium' 32 spoke wheels. I was almost considering putting the tubs on the 303's I have at the moment.. but after the picture I found (below) I changed my mind.
Flanders is my first big race of the season on the 9th. I have 2 races - Wally Gimber RR and the Dengie Marshes Tour - to prepare and tune up my legs. Going to be a tough race but hopefully it'll go well!
